We are looking for a Buyer to join our Procurement team based in Dartford. This is a key role which ensures supply, cost and quality of products to our customers.
The Buyer is responsible for the management of purchasing food products on a daily basis, ensuring the price is consistent with business requirements and driving savings through negotiation. If you are looking to join a fast paced and growing business, this could be a great opportunity for you.
Watts Farms is a family run business which covers 10 sites in Kent, Essex and Bedfordshire with more than 350 employees. This role is based within the Food Service division of the business, which supplies over 500 restaurants with produce in the South East and London region.
The key responsibilities of the role will include but not be limited to the following:
• Purchase products in sufficient quantity, of suitable quality (including shelf life) and at an agreed price.
• Complete daily reporting to include purchasing shortfalls or shelf-life issues.
• Ensure all purchasing records are accurate and complete, including traceability and quality assessment records.
• Effectively communicate with current and potential suppliers to negotiate prices.
• Liaise with internal departments daily to ensure the business is well informed of any important information, e.g. shortages.
• Other duties as instructed by the Procurement Team Leader.
What are we looking for?
• Any previous experience with fresh produce, wholesale supply or procurement would be useful, however full training is provided.
• A minimum of 5 GCSE’s A-C including Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate level Excel skills is essential
• Ability to determine priorities and be highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proactive with good problem solving skills.
• Flexible and adaptable in approach to work with the ability to multi-task.
• Able to work independently in a fast paced environment.
Hours:
Monday – Friday 9.00am – 6.00pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays 7am – 11am. Flexibility will be required to cover holidays and sickness.
