We require a Vehicle Valeter/Checker to join our professional, family run car & van rental company based in Ashford, Kent.

What you will be doing:

• Cleaning and preparing cars, commercial vehicles and minibuses for rental
• Checking and recording the condition of vehicles, i.e. tyre depths & pressures, engine oil, engine coolant levels, windscreen wash etc,
• Conducting full damage checks on vehicles before and after rental, reporting any new damage or issues where necessary
• Refueling vehicles upon return from rental
• Showing customers around their vehicle and giving instruction on how to operate controls/equipment if needed
• Delivering and collecting vehicles when required
• Helping with site maintenance and the upkeep of premises
• Ad hoc duties as and when dictated by the business needs

What we expect from you:

• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance
• High standards and a strong attention to detail
• A smart, professional appearance, courteous manner and good rapport building skills
• An ability to organise workload and work under pressure
• An understanding of the importance of good customer service
• The flexibility to work additional hours to meet business requirements where needed
• A full driving licence, ideally with both C1 and D1 status to allow the driving of 17 seat minibuses and 7.5 tonne trucks

Hours of Working:
7.30am to 5.30pm 5 days a week. This will involve working alternate Saturdays on a rota basis with a day off in lieu during the week.

Other Information:
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and energetic person who works well in a small team. Previous experience in a car or van rental company would be helpful but not essential, as we will provide the necessary training.

This is primarily a valeting and inspection role based on site, with driving mainly restricted to the yard and occasional deliveries and collections. It is therefore not suitable for those seeking a driving-orientated job.

This is a permanent position, available immediately. Flexibility in availability for work would be an advantage, as we are open 6 days a week and occasionally need cover for other days or times.
