Yard Manager: To efficiently and safely run a workshop/yard team, ensuring all units meet company standard on time and are fit for purpose.
Main Duties
• Responsible for all units going out on hire to customers on time
• Review units as they come back into the yard, logging defects and maintenance requirements
• Oversee cleaning and maintenance of the units and assist where required
• Ensure stock is kept in an organised and accessible manner – includes forklift operating
• Manage yard and workshop diary to prioritise building and maintenance of units ready for hire
• Inspection of units ensuring high quality is consistently maintained
• Perform Pre-Delivery inspection reports.
• Allocation of units to contracts and advising office team of stock levels and availability
• Manage workshop staff to refurbish units to a high standard
• Manage workshop staff to build new units as required by the company
Health & Safety
• Complying with and managing all Health and Safety requirements for the depot, keeping self and others safe
• Responsible for depot and site Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS)
• Managing the yard team ensuring that company policies are always adhered to
• Ensure that the yard and workshop are kept tidy, safe and secure at all times – including key holder responsibilities for the workshop and yard
• Report any damages to the office team within 24hours
• Ensure all workshop safety sheets, service sheets and other paperwork are completed accurately and promptly
• Completing daily defects sheet for all plant and equipment to maintain a safe working environment
Staff & Customers
• Liaise with both yard and office staff regularly to create an effective communications link between departments
• Regularly communicate with the office team regarding current and upcoming requirements
• Allocate work to yard staff according to skills and priorities
• Close liaison with transport staff, loading and unloading units in a timely manner
• Deal with all customers in a helpful and professional manner, both in person and on the phone as required
Training
• For the right candidate training will be provided.
Working hours and Pay:
Monday to Friday 7:30am – 5:30pm (with occasional weekend work as required)
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Salary: Minimum of £25,000 Negotiable on experience/qualifications
Start date: Immediate
