Head Chef (Temporary to Permanent)

Hourly Rate - £13.00 - £15.00 Per Hour

Our client, a well-established hotel and restaurant located in Margate, Kent, are currently looking for a Head Chef to join their team to lead a kitchen brigade, ensure that established standards of performance are maintained, and customer satisfaction is achieved.

You will be working various hours from Monday - Sunday, and this position pays between £13.00 - £15.00 per hour.

Duties and Responsibilities

* To supervise all food preparation and production in the kitchen
* Supervise the work of the team, allocating special duties and responsibilities
* To ensure the effective control of refrigeration and dry store goods to ensure food safety and minimise waste
* Attend weekly review meetings with the Food and Beverage Manager and General Manager
* To contribute to the smooth and profitable operation of the hotel in general and the restaurant, bar and ice cream parlour in particular
* Enforce all health and safety standards providing direction ensuring employee safety and both restaurant and kitchen cleanliness
* To monitor the temperature, quality and portion size of all food served from the kitchen areas
* To set standards in conjunction with the team and maintain these standards through training and promotion of training in all areas
* To ensure that all costs are maintained within budget and provide where necessary proposals for corrective action
* To prepare staff rotas in line with forecasted business ensuring that the budgeted wage is achieved

Personal Specification

* Previous experience of working in a Head Chef capacity
* Be aware of implications of relevant employment legislation such as equal opportunities, sex discrimination and race discriminations etc
* A positive approach to menu planning and development of the catering service
* A flair and enthusiasm for cooking with fresh quality ingredients
* Ability to cope under pressure, in a calm and efficient manner to set deadlines
* Stock taking and menu costing experience
