The ECA is a leading trade association that represents and supports the interests of businesses and organisations involved in all electrotechnical and engineering services in design, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and monitoring.

We are looking for a Software Developer to join our development team and help drive the evolution of our internal software systems by supporting existing operations, designing and delivering new features and contributing to innovation of all products. The permanent role will be based in our Sevenoaks office and report to the Project Development Manager. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm (35 hours per week). We have a car park available on site which is free to employees.

For the successful candidate, this is a great opportunity to progress their career with a plethora of full lifecycle development opportunities covering all aspects of development, while acting as a mentor to junior developers. The role is based in Sevenoaks town centre, close to the train station and directly among the shops, restaurants and cafes.

Purpose of the Role:

Joining an existing Agile/Scrum based Development Team to design, develop, test and deploy Windows applications and web services as part of our software integration platforms.
Use experience acquired in C# .Net development to enhance our knowledgebase and improve best practices within the Development Team, as well as mentor junior developers.
Contribute to continuous improvement within the Team and the Organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Create modern and clean web-based applications and secure web services utilising Microsoft C#.Net.
Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C# code.
Adhere to coding and security standards.
Identify bugs, software defects and bad coding standards.
Peer testing other developers’ code.
Deliver working and shippable code within defined release constraints.
Take an active role in all parts of the agile process (daily stand-ups, retrospectives, sprint planning).
Work closely with Business, Development and Projects Teams.

Critical Competencies:

Have excellent communications skills.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to effectively self-manage time and prioritise requests.
Minimum of 18 months experience developing the .net framework using C#.
A willingness to take on other tasks within the IT Department when required.
Demonstrate the experience and maturity to work under minimum supervision to meet the required objectives and deadlines.
