Canterbury Oast Trust provides quality development opportunities and accredited training courses for adults with learning disabilities in a variety of vocational subjects and settings across Kent and East Sussex where people can develop their skills in a supportive real life setting.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated, considerate and patient FLEXI (CASUAL) LIFE SKILLS ASSISTANT to join our team at our ART AT THE FARM life skills service.

As a LIFE SKILLS ASSISTANT, in conjunction with the Acting Life Skills Manager and Life Skills Tutors you will contribute and assist in the delivery of planned daily activities and provide informal coaching and guidance to students in achieving their identified needs in relation to their training, well-being and aspirations.

You will need an appreciation of the needs of people with learning disabilities; be considerate, patient, self-motivated, enthusiastic and professional. You should also possess good verbal and written communication skills in order to interact with those attending life skills sessions as well as their families, support staff, colleagues and volunteers.

Art and Craft knowledge is required as well as the ability to pick up new skills in order to teach and support a group of up to 6 students.

You should enjoy working as part of a team, as well as having a good understanding of health and safety requirements in relation to the use of tools and equipment.

All appointments are subject to proof of eligibility to work in the UK; an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (paid by the Trust) and two satisfactory references.
