Are you enthusiastic and ambitious, and would like to gain valuable work experience as well as study for a recognised qualification?

Our 18 month Apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to get your foot onto the career ladder and gain an insight into the work carried out by our Street Scene team.

The apprentice will undertake on the job training to study for a NVQ Level 3 in Construction Civil Engineering: Highway Maintenance and you will be supported by the Council through your studies.

As a member of the team you will be working across the full spectrum of street scene operations offering good customer services whilst dealing with enquiries relating to the maintenance and inspection of the Council’s street scene. This will include day to day administration, updating databases and responding to customers via the phone or email.

Applicants should have a keen interest in customer service and possess key skills in Maths and English attaining minimum GCSE Grades A-C or equivalent. You should have a good work ethic, be flexible, reliable, with good communication skills and a positive attitude. Candidates should have confidence, tolerance and a keenness to learn the organisation’s policies and procedures.

The Council considers this to be a customer focused roles and the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is fundamental to the role.
