We are currently recruiting a skilled person to join our maintenance team at the Best Western Plus Dover Marina Hotel & Spa
The successful candidate will be an experienced individual who is enthusiastic, likes a challenge, a team player and who understands customer service excellence within a 4* environment.

The role involves maintaining and undertaking necessary maintenance to the hotel's building services and life safety plant and equipment to ensure a 7day a week operation of the hotel.
The ideal candidate will, have had experience in working in a maintenance role in a large building, hotel, Care Home or facility that has a 7 day a week operation
Duties
• To assist the Maintenance Manager to carry out efficient operation of all Mechanical and Electrical Plant:

• To take instructions from the Maintenance Manager or General Manager and carry out the daily & weekly tasks including painting, grouting and decorating.

• To ensure that all areas under his control are maintained to a very high standard of cleanliness and safety in accordance with:
Company Policy
Health and Safety
Statutory Requirements

• On a monthly basis in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager, Head Housekeeper and General Manager carry out a brief condition survey of the hotels internal final fabric finishes. .

• To work closely with the Maintenance Manager with regards to all aspects of maintenance functions and control of expenditure.

• To collect information daily from all associated departments relating to any form of equipment or defect that may contribute to the disruption of the hotels day to day operation, so that remedial action can be implemented immediately. All defective items are to be logged and when remedial action has been completed, the department concerned should be informed.

• To assist in the implication of fire training within the hotel, (covering matters of a technical nature) wherever applicable.

• Be available for out of hours call outs, as and when necessary due to emergencies that may arise unexpectedly.

• Implement the testing of all fire prevention equipment and fire fighting equipment weekly. In conjunction with the Hotel Management, carry out fire evacuation drills in compliance with company guidelines.

• Advise duty management in the lavational points of the main; gas, water and electrical incoming isolation points, along with sub-isolation points relating to the above, so that the necessary utility can be isolated as a matter of urgency in case of any arising emergencies.

• Where applicable to be responsible for the training of all hotels based maintenance personnel and implement the recording of all training carried out.

• To attend heads of department meetings, training sessions in the absence of Maintenance manager as and when requested by the Hotel General Manager.

Selection Criteria
• One to two (1-2) years’ previous mechanical maintenance experience (hotel experience an asset)
• Must have electrical and mechanical trouble shooting skills and ability.
• Ability to work in cramped spaces and heights; able to lift/ move heavy equipment and objects.
• Knowledge of safety and emergency policies and procedures.
• Competent in the use of hand and power tools; Competent in the use of engineering instruments and testers.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
It is also desirable that the candidate has
• The ability to weld and solder an asset.
• A thorough knowledge of the Fire Precautions Act 1974 and that the hotel does conform to the necessary requirements.
• A thorough working knowledge of the Health and Safety Act 1974 specifically relating to his main area of duty, also to general aspects of the hotel.
• A thorough knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
Eligibility:
In line with the requirements of the Asylum & Immigration Act 1996, all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process.
