£7.48 or £7.83* per hour (£9.39 when undertaking Duty Manager duties**)
equivalent to the full-time salary of £15,214/£15,926* (£19,099 per annum)


We are looking for responsible and reliable individuals whose key duties will be ensuring that our swimmers are safe and our customers are looked after, whilst also keeping the centre clean and preparing the activity areas for our busy programme.

There is also the opportunity for experienced lifeguards to be considered for a more senior role which, in addition to the above, deputises for and assumes the role of Duty Manager when required.

Applications are invited from NPLQ qualified lifeguards, who can demonstrate the right attitude, experience of responsibility and a long-term commitment to this role.

What you'll need:
• a valid Lifeguard qualification
• an interest in working in the Leisure Sector
• a mature and hard-working attitude with the desire to learn and develop
• to be reliable, flexible and honest
• a professional yet friendly manner and a genuine interest in working with the public
• the ability to remain calm under pressure and within a busy environment
• to be available to work flexibly over a working week including evenings, early mornings and weekends.
Unqualified applicants will also be considered for permanent employment if they are able to demonstrate the right attitude and strong swimming ability, in which case funding may be available to achieve the NPLQ.

Successful qualified applicants will be eligible to apply for a refund of any self-funded NPLQ qualification fee in accordance with Active Life’s policy.

**For those interested in the more senior role which provides cover for the Duty Manager, the following will also be required:
• experience of working as a lifeguard
• a proven capability for responsibility, particularly with regards to colleagues and customers
Fully funded training leading to the National Pool Plant Operator Certificate will be provided, as appropriate, for the successful senior role applicant.

*£7.83 rate of pay is the National Living Wage, which is paid to those aged 25 and over / £7.48 rate of pay is for NPLQ qualified employees aged under 25.
