Overview
This role will involve you:
Contributing to the provision of an excellent service to a diverse range of clients, providing support to managers and partners, and supervising junior staff.
Reporting to managers and partners and taking responsibility for completing tasks accurately, to deadline and liaising with the client in line with the Client Charter.
Ensuring that client hygiene targets relevant for your grade are adhered to.
Travelling to and from clients’ premises and our other offices from time to time.
Demonstrating initiative and judgement although supervision and advice will be available at all times.
Developing technical expertise and progressing against technical competencies.
Progressing against designated exams (where appropriate).
Supervising a client team of 1-3 individuals on audit assignments.
Acting as a client supervisor in relation to appropriate clients and/or their engagements having a fee total in excess of £250,000 comprising predominantly corporate clients or engagements.
Gaining new work from existing or new clients where possible.
Likely to be acting as a client controller or supervisor in relation to appropriate clients and/or their engagements.

Qualifications
General
2 A levels at grade C or equivalent.
Technical
Qualified AAT
Qualified ACA/ACCA.

Main Duties
Your main duties will include:
The client’s engagements
The following are typical of the tasks that you will be expected to carry out on the client’s behalf. They should not be confused with your responsibilities involved in managing a client and his engagements which are set out under responsibilities for controllers and supervisors.
Accounts preparation:
Be involved in, and supervise, the preparation of corporate accounts in accordance with UK GAAP (or IFRS if required) and Companies Act requirements, including consolidated accounts and other complex financial reporting issues;
Audit:
Have a detailed understanding of, and be able to implement all elements of the firm’s audit package;
Act as an audit senior on both statutory and internal audits, taking greater responsibility for the overall audit direction and having greater involvement with more complex assignments such as group audits;
Assist, direct and review the work of more junior members of staff forming part of the audit team;
Liaise with the client to arrange the audit timetable including stocktakes;
Prepare audit planning documentation for review by manager;
Design and perform complex audit tests;
Attend complex stock takes;
Ensure that all audit letters and full records are received prior to the audit commencement;
Ensuring planning is completed prior to the assignment and help lead the team planning meeting;
Ensure that an audit team of staff with the appropriate experience/expertise has been selected;
Review the audit work of junior members of staff;
Prepare the completion section of the audit file, and wrap up the file for manager review;
Deal with client queries;
Attend client meetings;
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with best practice;
Other:
Prepare more complex corporation tax returns using the firm’s taxation software and review the work of junior staff *;
Identify the potential for tax planning and other opportunities and recommend appropriate strategies;
Assist clients with one-off assignments;
These tasks will be carried out subject to minimal or no supervision. It is anticipated that you will recognise situations where you need to seek technical assistance.
* Tasks marked thus are subject to appropriate specialist training being received.
Staff training and other
Providing on the job training for junior staff where possible and providing feedback on a timely basis.
Assisting managers and partners with technical research and technical writing for client and marketing purposes.
Volunteering for marketing events and firm-wide projects/recruitment representing the firm.
