We are seeking an experienced and highly collaborative individual with excellent communication skills to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Drill Hall Library, a shared service which delivers high quality library and IT services to support the staff and students of the Universities at Medway.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, has exceptional partnership development skills and can empower teams to work confidently to deliver seamless and high quality services within a busy and at times complex environment.
Working very closely with the three institutional partners - Canterbury Christchurch University, University of Greenwich and University of Kent – the role holder will provide expert leadership for ground breaking joint projects of national importance, moving the collaboration to new levels.
The successful candidate will join the ground-breaking Universities at Medway partnership as a direct employee of either University of Greenwich or University of Kent - to be determined in conversation prior to appointment
As Drill Hall Library Manager you will:
• Work closely with Directors of Information and Library Services and senior colleagues at the partner institutions, set the strategic direction of Drill Hall Library (DHL) activity to achieve dynamic, relevant, well-aligned and high quality services and collections
• Foster a strategic approach to engagement with each institution’s departments so students and staff can discover, access and use the full breadth and depth of services and collections to support their learning, teaching and research.
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Postgraduate and/or professional qualification in library studies or information science, or equivalent experience working in an academic library
• A proven track record in the implementation of strategic plans, and in the management and provision of complex services
Candidates can apply for this role either through University of Greenwich or through University of Kent. All candidates applying through either route will be considered through a single partnership process.
Information and Library Services functions at the Universities of Greenwich and Kent
Both Universities have converged library and IT departments and operate across multiple campuses. There is a shared Library Management System and the Universities at Medway hosts a Shared Services Board for the Medway Campus which is attended by represetnatives from the partner Universities.
