Hornby Hobbies brand portfolio encompasses Hornby model railways, Scalextric slot car racing, Airfix plastic kits, Humbrol specialist paints and Corgi diecast, along with a number of internationally renowned model railway brands.

We are seeking to recruit a Trainee I.T. Support Technician 1st Line. Reporting to the I.T. Manager, this role is responsible for the day to day support of the company’s’ I.T. services.

Main duties will include:
• Helpdesk role levels 1st line support
• Ensure all normal stock items are ordered and ready for use
• Selection and purchasing of new laptops, PC’s and other hardware
• Oversee internal all-in-one printing, fax and copiers and to liaise with maintenance partner when required
• Keeping records of hardware purchase dates, specifications, Serial Numbers all within our defined data sheets
• Perform maintenance of office equipment

Working knowledge of the following hardware/technologies will be a significant advantage:
o Apple MAC computers and their operating systems in the business environment
o Apple iPhone, iPad
o Cabling of Category 5e & 6e Networking
o Wireless networking and security
o Endpoint security software

The post holder will be required to work at times on their own initiative on day to day tasks. Multi site travel will be required, all within a 10 mile radius, therefore a full driving license is essential.

This post may suit a recent school/college leaver, having just completed a BTech/A Level (or equivalent) in an IT related subject. Full training will be given to the right candidate, which is likely to include college day release to further qualifications.
