Job Overview:
The Pretty Dress Company is looking for an experienced General Manager to join our friendly team, who is highly responsible, effective, confident and capable.
We are a fast-moving design led fashion brand, who manufacture in the UK, delivering genuine quality, value and on trend ladies dresses to UK & International Clients. Fashion experience is not vital, but man management, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, finance, quality, logistics & fulfilment management skills are essential for this senior role.
The appropriate candidate will be responsible for the smooth day to day running of the business, have outstanding personnel skills, with the ability to lead the head office team, whilst supporting the strategic objectives set by the Board of Executive & Non Exec Directors.
Reporting To: Joint Managing Directors and Founders of the business.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsibilities and duties of this job will include, but are not limited to: -
• Responsible for the day to day running of the operational side of the business, managing the team and ensuring that each department delivers on agreed productivity and KPI targets
• Work with the Directors, Non-Exec’s and Colleagues throughout the organisation to implement effective processes and procedures, in the daily work environment
• Responsible for all operational aspects of the business, including: -
Daily management of the staff
Operational control of the business including:
o Undertaking buying & procurement
o Planning production & manufacturing schedules
o Managing the day to day logistics & operations
o Overseeing quality assurance & control
o Supervising packing & fulfilment to both Wholesale, National & Website clients
Undertake supply chain management projects, including business system /IT procurement
Implementing HR and HS procedures with our specialist outside business support service provider
• Experienced in managing teams, including all procurement, production, quality, logistics, finance and office functions
• Additional functions may include:
o Manage daily operations meetings
o Lead on H&S
o Create, review and implement business procedures
o Work with department heads, ensuring continuity of business strategies
o Manage operational budgets & company expenditure
o Manage company property such as cars, telecommunication devices, and laptops
o Delegate responsibilities, where appropriate
o Attend meetings, trainings, seminars and conferences
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a manufacturing and operational environment
Specific skills
• Personal characteristics should include: -
o A proven leader with a track record of success
o Determined, diplomatic but focused
o Friendly, professional & polite personality
o Numerical competency, with the ability to analysis key business figures
o Excellent English, both verbal & written
o Self-motivated, able to prioritize workload
o Enjoy working as a team player
o Flexible & hard-working ethos
o IT and technology loving
