JOB TITLE: Health and Safety Manager

REPORTS TO: Estate Services Manager

SALARY: Paying up to £35,000


Our world famous client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety manager
To ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
Their business is complex and varied and Health and Safety is of paramount importance to ensure a safe environment for visitors, guests and staff



PURPOSE: To co-ordinate, support and advise all departments on Health and Safety

To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure the highest levels of Health and Safety are achieved.

KEY TASKS:


To ensure that statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.

Monitor, evaluate and review, new and upcoming Health and Safety legislation and ensure that thier systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance.

To ensure risk assessments for all areas are completed and regularly reviewed, working closing with Supervisors and Team Leaders so they understand their importance.

To work proactively with managers to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of Health and Safety within their areas of responsibility, which includes conducting regular audits.

To ensure that all accidents and incidents are documented, with follow up investigations recommending suggested improvements are carried out and notified to Management

To make sure that regular safety inspections are carried out, recommending best practice and implementing training where shortcomings are identified.

To organise regular fire drills and fire evacuation exercises, and relevant follow up training carried out where shortcomings identified.

To co-ordinate the on-going development of health & safety policies and safe systems of work and ensure that staff are regularly briefed and trained to understand the changes.

To ensure accurate health and safety training records are maintained.

To be a point of contact with external health & safety consultants in the provision of training programmes and health and safety services.

To manage, chair and organise the Health & Safety Committee meetings making sure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.

To keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to necessary departments.



CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 Compliance with regulations relating to Health & Safety to ensure a safe working environment.

 Maintenance of personal standards of presentation, performance and attendance beyond reproach at all times.

Reporting to the Estate Services Manager the successful applicant will have good experience ideally gained in a similar environment together with a recognised qualification (NEBOSH) and will have the detailed knowledge to advise management on all H&S matters.

To succeed in this role you will need to be resilient, flexible and pragmatic and be able to cope cheerfully with the unpredictability of a 365 day environment.
