Administrative Assistant

Employer: Holcombe Grammar School
Salary: TSAT Grade C, £15,935 - £17,936 FTE (Grade D, £19.846 To £22,337 for an experienced candidate)
Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only + 15 days
Start Date: September 2018

We are a successful grammar school for students aged 11-18 with a long-standing reputation for being a supportive and caring environment in which to teach and learn. We have seen significant developments in recent years resulting in achieving excellent results for our students. As part of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust, we aim to guide our students to become successful, well-rounded and confident individuals with the ability to achieve their personal best.

We are seeking to appoint a hardworking and reliable administrative assistant to work in our school office.

The successful candidate will:

• Support the Assistant Principal and PA to the Principal in the administration of both external and internal exclusions, ensuring that key documents are completed and submitted in a timely manner and both paper and computer based, records kept up to date
• Support the Assistant Principal in the administration of detentions, registering students that are not punctual, keeping a register of students attending afternoon detentions and communicating this with parents and carers
• Assist the Office Manager with administration of pupil admissions and appeals to the Academy
• Assist the Examinations Officer in the administration of public and mock examinations within the Academy
• Assistance with the reception area, answering the telephone, filtering enquiries as appropriate, taking and passing on messages to appropriate members of staff
• Undertake general office duties including: filing, collating, posting and Parentpay tasks
• Maintain SIMs, the Schools information systems, databases and other associated records, both paper and computer based
• Undertake general typing tasks including maintenance of spreadsheets
• General office duties and filing as required, including distribution of mail and parcels, when required.

• Deal with first aid, when required

What you will need to succeed:

• Good standard of English
• Experience of SIMs preferred although training will be given to the right candidate
• Experience of working in an administrative environment
• Excellent written, oral communication skills and numeracy skills
• Excellent computer skills.
• Adaptable, organised and able to work with minimum supervision
• First Aid at Work trained
• Commitment to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils
