INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT WORKER - WAKING NIGHT

We now have an excellent opportunity for an Individual Support Worker WAKING NIGHT to join us at our Residential Centre in Curlew Crescent, Strood

INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT WORKER-WAKING NIGHT

As a waking night support worker you\'ll need to be patient, caring and a great communicator. You will attending to the needs of the people we support and ensuring their well-being and safety during the night, as well as assisting them in getting up in the morning to wash, dress and prepare their choice of breakfast.

You will monitor those we support by carrying out periodic bedroom checks throughout the night. You will also assist those who have not retired to bed or comfort those who wake and help to reduce any distress or anxiety which may be preventing them from sleeping. This may include preparing drinks or light snacks if required.

It is imperative that the waking night support worker remains alert throughout the shift. When not attending the people we support you will be required to undertake light domestic duties, such as general cleaning and ironing.

There is also some important admin/tasks to do as well, such as dispensing and recording medicines for the people you are supporting, along with updating support records on our computer system.

You will be supported by either another waking night support worker or there will be a sleep-in staff member who you can all on in the case of an emergency.

The successful candidate will also have the following experience and qualifications:

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

o A positive and compassionate attitude towards care
o Energetic approach to support with social activities
o Excellent communication skills
o Willingness to learn
o Team player


DESIRABLE SKILLS:

o Experience of working in challenging behaviour services
o NVQ Level 2 or higher in Health and Social Care (Adults)
o Experience and/or knowledge of epilepsy
o Hold a full driving licence and be willing to drive

Summary Details - JOB TITLE

SALARY - £16,000 per annum (Pending a Pay Review in September)

HOURS - 37.5 hours per week on average

SHIFT - Two week rolling Rota, with every other weekend off. Hours to be confirmed at interview.

LOCATION - Curlew Crescent, Strood.

INDICATIVE CLOSING DATE: 11th September 2018
