JOB DETAILS
Post: Internal Quality Assurer
Responsible to: Apprenticeship Manager/Quality Manager
Key Purpose: To be responsible for the formative and summative verification of work-based learner portfolios in accordance with Awarding body and organisational quality standards.
Qualifications: Business Admin, Customer Service, Team Leading, Management, Digital Marketing, Sales, Employability, Enterprise Skills
Hours: 1-2 days per week, remote working but some office time for meetings etc.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To carry out formative and summative verification activities: ensure that practical assessments through the verification of assessment of learners are delivered by Assessors in accordance with the requirements of the awarding body and that assessment judgements and decisions against NOS are in accordance with the requirements of the awarding organisation
2. To monitor/track learners’ progress with regard to practical competencies: updating the Quality Manager on learner progress and highlighting any concerns on a monthly basis
3. To maintain accurate documentation: through the administration for the above and by maintaining accurate reports and documentation including IQA sampling plans, Centre files, learner tracking and standardisation meeting minutes
4. To attend and where requested to lead meetings: Centre meetings; Standardisation meetings, department and management meetings and staff development activities.
5. To prepare for host External quality Assurance visits: where requested by the Quality Manager/Centre Manager
6. To conduct quality assurance checks: where requested to support the Quality Manager by conducting Assessor observations and learner interviews
7. To liaise with internal and external parties: Centre Manager, Quality Manger, Apprenticeship Manager and relevant funding partners regarding progress and industry updates etc.
8. To support assessors: by acting as a focal point for areas of concern i.e. learner issues, delivery approach etc.
9. To ensure that individual students’ learning needs are met through the provision of: learning support i.e. Literacy, Numeracy, Language and ICT and where appropriate to ensure a referral is made to Runway’s ALN co-ordinator
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Safeguarding responsibilities: Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons in line with Runway Training’s Policy.
2. Health and Safety responsibilities: To comply with and promote Health and Safety policies and procedures and to undertake recommended Health and Safety training as and when necessary.
3. Equality and Diversity: Actively promote equality and diversity, recognising and actively challenging stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination, ensuring that these principles permeate all working practices
4. Data Protection: Maintain the highest standard of confidentiality at all times and deal empathetically with all learners and employers
PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
Internal Verifiers are expected to:
• Keep up to date with developments in their subject area
• Arrange a minimum of 2 back to work days to ensure that competencies are maintained
• Be committed to professional self-development, through participation in the Centre’s continuing professional development programme which includes the completion distance/e-learning courses, in-house training, staff days (a minimum of 2 a year) and external conference days and training events appropriate to the job role.
• To keep an up-to-date CPD record
• Participate in Runway’s Performance Appraisal System.
• Keep accurate and up to date learner paperwork
• Adhere to general standards of conduct embodied in Runway’s policies and procedures (e.g. health and safety, equality and diversity etc.)
• Be involved in the Runway’s quality assurance arrangements (Induction, Lesson Observation, Appraisal and gathering/analysing feedback from your students with a view to implementing continual improvement to your course on an ongoing/annual basis.)
• Participate in a customer centred approach to service delivery
• Be involved in any Inspection of Runway by OFSTED or other external organisations
• To work flexibly and efficiently, to maintain the highest professional standards and to promote and implement the policies of Runway Training
• Liaise with the Apprenticeship Manager, Quality Manager Internal verifiers, external verifiers and awarding bodies as required.
• Work to a range of performance indicators relevant to the services provided by Runway Training in order to ensure continuous quality improvement. Assist with the implementation of plans and systems as specified within the Continuous Improvement Strategy.
• Be conversant with, and operate, all appropriate information technology resources available, and to keep abreast, of developments in this area.
• To undertake other additional duties, consistent with the role as may be deemed appropriate by the Apprenticeship/Quality Managers
