Are you an experienced administrator with a passion for customer service?
As the first point of contact for students, staff and visitors, you will provide a high level of customer service to ensure that they have a good impression of the area and the University as a whole.
Working as part of the School’s administrative team, you will provide accurate and efficient support to assist with the smooth running of the School, with an emphasis on enhancing the student experience and giving a welcoming first impression of the School.
As Student Experience Assistant you will:
• provide general clerical support to the School as requested
• act as first point of contact for students, staff and visitors to the School
• undertake clerical duties relating to financial processing
• support the organisation of meetings and committees within the School
To be successful in this role you will have:
• GCSE level education, or equivalent
• experience of providing customer service
• good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office packages
• excellent written and oral communication skills
Housed in Keynes College, the School of Psychology sits atop the hill overlooking Canterbury with a view of the cathedral. It is a leading centre of research and teaching with a commitment to scientific excellence, a concern for problems of contemporary relevance and a desire to have positive impact.
The School of Psychology at the University of Kent is consistently rated in the top 20 of UK course providers. Based upon factors such as entry standards, student satisfaction, research assessment and graduate prospects, Psychology at Kent ranked 13th in the 2019 Complete University Guide, 14th in the 2018 Guardian University Guide, and 10th in the 2018 Sunday Times/Times Good University Guide.
The rankings published in the Times Higher, show that research conducted by academic staff in the School of Psychology at the University of Kent is ranked 11th/82 in the UK. This is based on Research Intensity calculated in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF). Our research has four key themes: cognitive/ cognitive neuroscience, social psychology, forensic psychology and developmental psychology. In all these fields, we have an excellent record of attracting external research funding and postgraduate students and in recent years the School has won funding from the ERC, ESRC, MRC, Leverhulme Trust, British Academy, Nuffield Foundation, Department of Trade and Industry, Age UK, People United, the Higher Education Academy, the Big Lottery Fund, Department of Communities and Local Government, the Ministry of Justice, the Department for Work and Pensions, HM Prison Service and NHS Breast Screening Programme.
We have a large number of international honorary members, visitors and collaborators, and regularly hold international conferences. For example, these have included the British Psychological Society Annual Conferences in Cognitive, in Social, and in Forensic Psychology. We have also hosted medium-sized meetings sponsored by the European Association of Social Psychology and several seminar series funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and the Academy of Social Sciences.
