Job Summary:
To manage a small team of staff who support Young Carers and Children with disabilities across the South-East area of Kent. The role involves developing and managing a consistent, high quality service across the area to help both disabled children and Young Carers to build resilience and achieve their full potential (including some delivery of services for the manager).

Management Responsibilities:
• Supervise Children and Young People staff to ensure project targets are met
• Supervise the delivery and review the development of services to best meet the needs of Disabled Children and Young Carers
• Assist with & ensure any safeguarding concerns are correctly/appropriately dealt with in line with Imago Safeguarding policy
• Report to Head of Children and Young People service, work alongside statutory services and initiate appropriate referrals
• Develop action plans with Young Carers; monitor and review & support Young Carers to access mainstream community services
• Recruit and manage volunteers to support Young people.
• Work with community partners to identify opportunities for Young People
• Management responsibilities for the area and the team.

Qualities/skills:
• Ability to work independently, organising work to meet targets, objectives and deadlines
• Ability to stay calm in a crisis and be measured in your response; be non-judgmental and measured in your actions
• Ability to work within professional boundaries
• Excellent oral communication and written skills, ability to motivate others and an empathy with the aims of the organization
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Ability to form effective relationships with Young people, volunteers and colleagues at all levels
• A commitment to equal opportunities, diversity and making services accessible to all sections of the community
• Excellent computer skills, including the use of social media

Essential Experience:
• Relevant personal or professional experience in social care, health, education, private or voluntary and community sector
• Experience of working with children and young people
• Experience of working with complex family dynamics
• Knowledge of East Kent area
• Hold a current driving licence and have access to own transport is essential

Experience (desirable):
• Relevant personal or professional experience in social care, health, education, private or voluntary and community sector
• Staff supervision and support
• Knowledge of issues relating to young people and their educational and social development and how they impact and affect Young Carers
• Management of Staff/Volunteers
• Project development experience
• Multi-agency working
• Monitoring & Evaluation
