Direction Law LLP specialise in property law. We have offices based in Canterbury, Wells and London with around 130 staff but the role is based at our Canterbury offices .

Due to rapid growth of the firm, we now require a HR function and are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to set this up and provide an on-going generalist HR service. We are looking for someone to work around 20 - 25 hours per week across 4 – 5 days, however the days and hours are flexible and can be negotiated.

The right candidate will work with us to understand our business, namely by reviewing our policies and procedures and be able to confidently advise on their application. A successful candidate will be CIPD qualified, experienced and able to demonstrate a pragmatic business focussed approach. Although you will received support from the Partners and Office Manager you must be confident that you are able to work in a Stand-alone HR role and be able to provide HR advice to managers/ staff in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide HR advice and support to the business across all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including: Recruitment & Selection; Attendance Management, Employee Relations, Recognition & Reward; Performance Management & Development, and Employee Engagement
• Liaise with Partners/Managers on all HR issues and offer sensitive advice and support in a timely manner
• Deal with day to day Human Resource queries from employees, offering timely advice and resolution
• Reviewing and updating contracts, policies and procedures
• Support Partners with the design and delivery of operational and strategic projects as required

Qualifications:

• Degree level educated
• CIPD qualified (ideally Graduate membership)

Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years’ practical experience working within an HR department at an advisory level in the provision of generalist HR support, preferably in a similar environment
• A sound understanding of UK employment legislation and relevant codes of practice

Skills and Competencies:

• The ability to build positive relationships with staff at all levels and work in partnership to achieve workable and practical outcomes
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence managers to ensure that HR processes are embedded across the business
• Analytical skills including the ability to quickly and accurately assimilate information
• Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a demanding environment
• Proven analytical and problem solving skills
• High level of competency in the use of MS Office packages
• Good verbal, written and numerical skills

• Team player with a positive attitude
