The Role
Are you an experienced electrician looking to join a great team of multi-disciplinary professional trades people working at our Canterbury campus?

We have an opportunity for an Approved Electrician to join our team of around 40 trade specialists carrying out reactive and planned maintenance across the University. The team are responsible for keeping our buildings running effectively and efficiently and delivering fantastic service to students and staff on campus. They also ensure statutory compliance and regulatory requirements are met, and where possible aim to exceed these requirements. If you set yourself high standards and take pride in your professional trade skills we would welcome your application.

You will be part of the Electrical team reporting to the Electrical Maintenance Manager. The working hours will be 8am to 4pm or 12pm to 8pm; to be discussed at interview. Please indicate preferred working hours in your application.

The Person

The successful applicant will have:

City & Guilds level 2 or 3 or equivalent qualification in an electrical engineering discipline and will hold a BS7671 qualification, including testing for the latest edition of the regulations.
Time served undertaking an Electrical Apprenticeship or NVQ level 3 or equivalent
Proven experience of working as an electrician in a maintenance environment with a mix of PPM and reactive work, including fault-finding and resolution.
The ability to work as part of a mixed-disciplinary team.
A current awareness and understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements relating to your work.
A measured and effective approach under pressure with the ability to remain professional with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders at all times.

The University offers a generous annual leave entitlement; for a full-time member of staff in this role it is 38 days per year. This is made up of 30 days Contractual Leave, 8 Public Holidays and 5 Customary Days taken when the University is closed at Christmas.
Upon appointment all eligible staff can become members to a contributory, defined benefit occupational pension scheme.
Annual salary increments are usually applied on 1 October each year (subject to start date and spine point for example).
