Project Manager – Employability
Job Specification

Social Enterprise Kent has established itself over the recent past as one of the main social enterprise bodies in Kent, giving advice to many charities and budding enterprises, and running training and employment services. We are a passionate believer in the power of social enterprise to effect positive change in our communities, and the importance of partnership working in all sectors.

Social Enterprise Kent is currently delivering on 2 specific employability projects. We are the lead partner on Lots More to Offer, a project to help mature workers over the age of 45, back into employment or education.

We are also a subcontractor on Let’s Get Working, a project led by Sussex Community development Association (SCDA).  SCDA has secured funding to provide intensive and ongoing practical employment support for disadvantaged people with health conditions or disabilities to move into sustainable volunteering, education, training or employment. The project will follow the principles of social prescribing to enable SCDA and its subcontractors to engage with those who will benefit from it the most. Effective relationships with the medical and health sectors are central to the success of the project.

Both of these projects are funded by the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund (ESF) as part of the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) programme.

The Project Manager for Employability will work on a 50:50 basis on both of these projects, leading the day-to-day running of the BBO employability team, working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, to ensure that the department successfully delivers on its ambitions.
Both of these projects are funded until 31st December 2019. This post is therefore funded until that date, and whilst we are hopeful of winning and delivering future employability projects, we cannot offer any guarantee of work being available after this date.

We welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds, and those who have personal experience of some of the issues we are trying to address in Social Enterprise Kent would be especially welcomed to apply.

Responsible to: CEO
Location: The role can be based in Margate or Folkestone (with regular travel each week to other office)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

- Lead the delivery of the BBO Lots More to Offer project, managing both SEK staff working on this project and the 2 subcontractors delivering on this project on our behalf. Ensure that the project delivers on its targets, and meets the compliance requirements set out by the project funders
- Lead the delivery of the BBO Let’s Get Working project, managing the 5 SEK staff working on the project. Ensure that the project delivers on its targets, and meets the compliance requirements set out by the lead partner, Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA). Ensure that the project follows the social prescribing model set out by SCDA. This will require active engagement with health professionals to secure referrals to the project.
- Lead on the core monitoring and reporting processes for both BBO projects, to enable timely and accurate reporting of progress to all key stakeholders. Where issues arise, ensure that these are dealt with or escalated to the CEO on a timely basis to put the project back on track.
- Work with project delivery partners and other key stakeholders, including people looking for sustained employment themselves, to deliver the activities set out in the project plans. Report on overall progress to the SEK Board on a quarterly basis.
- Ensure that the project workstreams have regular feedback from beneficiaries, and that adjustments are made where necessary based on this feedback
- Manage relationships with wider stakeholders on the project, including Project Partners, ESF, Big Lottery, Public Health, CCGs, statutory bodies and the wider VCSE and business sectors in the SELEP area.
- Develop networks of active supporters, to include local volunteers, advocates in the local media and sponsors within key statutory bodies.
- Develop wider national networks with other successful partnerships and other groups.
- Working with the CEO, manage the legal partnership agreements and role specifications required for all project partners on LMTO.
- Maintain regular contact with the Big Lottery Funding Officer and any other parties (eg press office) and provide information required by them on a timely basis.
- Oversee the submission and processing of project payments to the SEK finance team, ensuring that any partner queries are dealt with swiftly.
- Comply with Equal Opportunities legislation at all times, and actively promote positive E&D activities and messages throughout the project.
- Comply with the Data Protection Act 1998/General Data Protection Regulation 2018, especially as regards any personal information relating to participants on the project and any partner information
- Other reasonable activities as requested.

Please note: Travel around Kent and East Sussex will be required for this position.
