Join Leigh Academy Blackheath as the founding Caretaker of our brand new school! Not many job opportunities can boast that the successful candidate will be the first member of the team…

Leigh Academy Blackheath opens its doors to the first cohort of Year 7 students from September 2018 – an incredibly exciting time for the local community that the school serves. We have appointed our leadership team and teaching team, and we are now in the process of making the final support staff appointments to ensure we are fully operational when we ‘get the keys’ to our academy in mid-August 2018.

We know that the Caretaker role is pivotal to the smooth day-to-day running of the school and our successful candidate will take care of the academy premises in a range of ways including general maintenance duties (minor repair and refurbishment works), porterage, security, health and safety, etc. But don’t worry, you won’t be on your own… you’ll have the support and guidance from our highly experienced and knowledge Business Manager who oversees this remit at Leigh Academy Blackheath.

We will operate a split shift to ensure the academy needs are catered for’ the working hours are 7.00am - 11.00am and 2.30pm - 6.00pm Monday to Friday. This is a permanent contract over the full 52 weeks of the year, i.e our school remains open during when the students and staff are on school breaks and we carry out a variety of projects during the school holidays. We offer 25 days holiday per annum (plus bank holidays) which increases based on length of service. Our appointed candidate will join us as close to 20th August 2018 as possible.

We offer fantastic CPD opportunities as an academy and as a wider multi-academy trust so can provide full support if there are any areas that you may need to be upskilled or trained. There is also scope for this role to progress into a Site Manager opportunity over the next few years as our academy expands, so for those of you seeking great career progression, this is the role for you!
