In HR we partner with each area of The Fresh Produce Centre to recruit, develop and retain a high performing and diverse workforce and maintain a healthy, safe, and productive work environment for employees.

We have an exciting opportunity for an HR professional to enjoy a varied role with a wide range of interactions on a daily basis, taking a hands on approach with both Managers and colleagues to provide full HR guidance and support.

You will gain exposure to many different aspects of the business and have the opportunity to work on site based and Group-wide HR projects. We’ll also look to you to identify and develop improvements to assist the business in achieving high levels of overall performance.

Day to day you will:
• be a key point contact for colleagues and drive positive outcomes, ensuring HR matters are handled fairly and consistently in line with Company policy.

• deal with day to day queries (e.g. attendance/absence, probation monitoring, eligibility checks, policy guidance, maternity/paternity etc.) and where necessary guide this to the correct path for resolution, ensuring all relevant documentation is produced.

• coach managers so that they can function independently, with confidence, operating in line with Company policies and employment legislation.

• be a role model for creating positive operating styles and behaviour in line with our company values of Integrity, Commitment, Sustainability, Quality and Flexibility.

• work with the wider HR team on a wide variety of people related topics and projects including monitoring, planning and executing engagement programmes.

• provide accurate and timely management information and give insight or improvement recommendations based on data.

• develop, monitor and review policies so that we maintain a framework which both reflects our business needs and remains in line with current legislation.

• contribute as part of the FreshPLUS operational leadership team, developing plans which consider impact of change, including immediate and long-term staff requirements in terms of numbers and skill levels.

• act as the lead to maintain a positive working partnership with on-site agency representatives to ensure agency staff have the same opportunity to perform effectively and safely as our own team.

• play a key role in the recruitment of new hires – attending interviews and assessing candidate suitability balancing today’s business needs with our aspirations for tomorrow.

Our ideal candidate

• Naturally customer focused and may have even been in a customer facing role previously
• HR experience in a manufacturing background and can apply HR knowledge in a practical and user friendly way
• Good IT literacy (Microsoft Office, HR systems – we use Access Select HR)
• Excellent written and verbal communications to create strong connections
• High levels of attention to detail, whilst maintaining a sense of pace
• A diplomat who maintains confidentiality in all aspects of work
• Used to working autonomously without close supervision, organising and prioritising workloads to meet strict deadlines
• A resourceful individual who is flexible in approach and willing to help when the team is in need as our operations operate 7 days a week
• Enjoys rolling up the sleeves and getting involved
• Ideally, CIPD qualified to level 5
