COMMUNICATIONS EXECUTIVE

Shepherd Neame is Britain’s oldest Brewery based in Faversham, Kent. As an independent family business we own and operate over 328 pubs and produce a wide range of ales and lagers, including Spitfire Ale, Whitstable Bay and Bishops Finger.

A communications all-rounder able to articulate the Shepherd Neame experience by creating and presenting engaging content to illustrate the unique stories of our pubs, brands and brewery. This would be a key role within the Communications Team in support of a new strategic marketing plan.

Duties would include amplifying key messages in a range of media, both externally and internally, and specifically via a new internal communications platform.

The ideal candidate will have press office experience and be a flawless copywriter who is able to tailor their writing to a variety of mediums and projects. They will also have excellent presentation skills, experience of managing a diverse news agenda and handling media enquiries. Other essential skills include building media databases and compiling coverage reports and analysis. Desktop publishing, photo editing and basic digital video editing skills would be an advantage.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Communications Executive will work with the wider marketing team to amplify the unique stories and personality of our pubs, brands and brewery both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

• Day to day management of the news diary
• Managing media coverage and subsequent reports
• Compiling content:
o Copywriting: statements, press releases, website copy, direct communications, forward feature responses
o Proofing and editing
o Images: briefing photographers, archiving images
• Building press release distribution lists
• Supporting the Communications Manager
• Further internal communications
• Administrative support

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR:

For the role you will require the following skills and experience:

• A high degree of literacy and excellent writing skills
• Experience at providing counsel regarding media enquiries
• Attention to detail, meticulousness and proof reading skills
• MS Office; Digital cameras
• Online media database/coverage

• Ideally you will also have:
• PR or journalism qualification
• Experience in the leisure industry or FMCG

BENEFITS:

• Competitive salary.
• 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays
• Contributory Pension scheme

Fulltime, 37.5 hours per week. 08:30 - 17:00, Monday to Friday with 1 hour lunch (unpaid). This role will however include some weekend and evening duties from time to time to meet the needs of the business.
