IT Development Manager

The Development Manager is responsible for ensuring the day to day operational function of the Development team. The Development team is responsible for defining, planning, developing, enhancing, modifying, testing and deploying internally and externally facing applications and websites.
The Development Manager will be accountable for the team’s schedule, will act as a business advocate for the team and ensure that the team is supplied with adequate resources to complete objectives and to assist with the removal of blockers preventing tasks being completed.
Role Responsibilities
• Manage the daily running of the Development team
• Monitor performance against key performance indicators and take the necessary actions to ensure they are achieved
• Review individual and team performance
• Coach, motivate and retain employees throughout the team
• Manage the Development team’s programme of work ensuring priorities are established and conflicts in these are resolved
• Prioritise and manage planned requests and manage, where necessary, ad-hoc work loads
• Provide accurate timing estimates for work based on verbal and written specifications
• Unblock issues that are stopping the Development Team moving forward with assigned tasks and ensure that the team are communicating any delays to the Business
• Work with the team to ensure sufficient processes and tools are in place to meet the requirements of the business and customers
• Ensure that processes are being followed and adjusted as needed
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and colleagues to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects
• Maintain a high awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly in regard to accessibility, usability, emerging technologies with a view to incorporating in future projects
• Provide technical input into new business pitches as required
• Manage workload and resources to ensure that projects are delivered in the agreed timeframe
• To refer to the Head of IT Solutions when any work falls outside their area of knowledge or expertise
Personal Qualities & Key Skills
Required
•Strong previous technical understanding of the following key programming languages:
· C#
· HTML
· JavaScript
· XML
· Angular Js(desirable)
· CSS (desirable)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent understanding of the organisation’s goals and objectives
• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
• Strong understanding of project management principles
• Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to effectively prioritise
• Experience coaching and mentoring a strong software development team
• Exceptional customer service orientation
Desirable
• In-depth understanding of Agile development methodologies
• Programme Management
Hours: 40 hours per week -Monday to Friday
