In this role, you will support the day-to-day delivery of the IS project portfolio, primarily focussing on IT development projects under the technology strategic aim, by working in partnership with the IS Senior Management team, project managers and programme boards. The role will ensure that the IS project governance framework is embedded so that the benefits of IS projects, mapped against University objectives, are realised.
As part of a team you will co-ordinate and organise the annual IS roadmap planning process to support a number of strategic themes in IS. This sets the IS change vision and underpins the IS operational plan which contributes towards the ambitious change programme undertaken by Information Services.
As a Project Support Officer you will:
• Ensure that the IS project management governance framework is appropriately adopted to ensure that cost, scope, benefits and timescales of projects are clearly aligned to IS and University objectives
• Co-ordinate and organise part of the annual IS roadmap planning process, which sets the IS change vision and underpins the IS operational plan.
• Contribute to the improvement, quality assurance and ongoing implementation of the IS project and portfolio management processes
• Actively monitor IS projects and programmes ensuring that the relevant programme boards and management groups are provided with timely and good quality data.
To succeed in this role you will:
• Be educated to degree level or the equivalent experience
• Be able to provide evidence of working in a customer support, liaison or other support role with experience of supporting and organising meetings including creation of minutes and action logs
• Have the ability to schedule and prioritise workloads in the face of conflicting demands and the ability to analyse and evaluate issues, situations and data
• Have excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office packages
Information Services is comprised of four sections: Customer Support, Library Collections and IT Development together directly support almost all areas of University activity, and the Planning and Administration section supports the work of the department. The IT Support Services subsection of Customer Services is responsible for the support and operation of all live central IT systems on the University’s Canterbury, Medway and Tonbridge campuses.
