The International Metallurgical Compliance Manager is primarily responsible for developing, improving and maintaining the management systems of CARES, and providing assurance as to the health of these systems.
The International Metallurgical Compliance Manager will work in conjunction with any agents and/or representatives appointed by CARES such as subcontractors (External Auditors) or independent test laboratories.
The International Metallurgical Compliance Manager will report to the General Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop, improve and evaluate CARES’ management system to comply with UKAS and SAC accreditation standards.
• Develop, improve and manage CARES’ health and safety management system on an ongoing basis.
• Ensure all CARES policies and procedures are updated, revised and modified as required in line with these standards and systems.
• To maintain certification and accreditation to Company systems.
• Provide systems training and technical support to the Scheme Managers.
• Review audit reports submitted by CARES’ auditors (UK and Ireland).
• Assist with the preparation of audit itineraries (UK and Ireland).
• Carry out audits, as Lead Auditor or Support Auditor, as required by the CARES Inspection Programme.
• Undertake audits of independent test laboratories used by CARES.
• Assist with reviewing Approved Firm’s compliance status and periodic data submissions from Approved Firms including customer complaint and long term quality level data.
• Provide clear and concise feedback and reports to the General Manager as required.
• Undertake such additional duties or tasks, which are consistent with those specified above, as directed by the General Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Educated to degree standard, or equivalent, in a relevant branch of engineering, metallurgy or material science.
• Preferably a Chartered Engineer and Member of a professional institution.
• Direct experience of Quality Assurance.
• Certificate in System Management or similar, or able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and experience as to be deemed to be qualified by experience
• Minimum of five ten years’ relevant industrial experience.
• Experience of working within the steel industry in Hong Kong, Singapore or Australasia.
• Preferably qualified to ‘lead auditor’ status.
• In depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and requirements
• Qualified to NEBOSH national general certificate level or equivalent.
• Highly computer literate with an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Comfortable with learning, operating and implementing bespoke programming software.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to persuade and influence relevant stakeholders.
• Proven record of establishing rapport, building and maintaining relationships with customers, suppliers staff and subcontractor (external auditors).
• Maintains up to date professional and technical knowledge.
• Confident communicator with both the spoken and written word
• Diligent and consistent in approach.
• Highly organised with great attention to detail.
• A flexible and adaptable team player.

Other relevant information:

The position will involve a degree of travel, both national and international, and will rely on a high degree of electronic communication.
