Join the University of Kent as an effective team member of our Information Services department, where you will help deliver all aspects of the Campus Support service, including installation, configuration and maintenance of IT and audio visual hardware equipment.
We are seeking a part time IT AV Technician to provide direct technical assistance to staff in support of IT and Audio Visual equipment across campus in order to optimise the use of technology within the University.
As a IT/AV Technician you will:
• Assist staff in the use of the University’s IT and audio visual (AV) systems to maintain the smooth delivery of university systems and teaching provision on a day-to-day basis.
• Install, maintain and support IT equipment in teaching spaces, staff offices and student PC rooms to ensure that resources are available to meet customer needs.
• Troubleshoot equipment in order to diagnose faults, repairing where possible or reporting the fault as appropriate, in order to provide a timely resolution to the problem.
• Undertake occasional projects and other duties to support the work of the department and the University.
To succeed in this role you will have:
• GCSE in English and maths (A-C grades) or equivalent and A levels in relevant subjects or equivalent vocational qualification
• A qualification in IT related technologies with basic knowledge of networking PCs and basic knowledge of networks
• Experience of supporting and maintaining IT equipment and experience of supporting and maintaining audio-visual (AV) equipment
• Good IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office packages and e-mail and Good working knowledge of PC installation and configuration
Information Services is comprised of four sections: Customer Support, Library Collections and IT Development together directly support almost all areas of University activity, and the Planning and Administration section supports the work of the department. The IT Support Services subsection of Customer Services is responsible for the support and operation of all live central IT systems on the University’s Canterbury, Medway and Tonbridge campuses.
