Are you an experienced Facilities Manager with considerable experience in health and safety management? Are you seeking a new and exciting opportunity? If this sounds like you then look no further!

We are seeking to recruit a Facilities Manager within Information Services, to ensure that through effective management of staff, building security, maintenance, and health and safety, a first class service is delivered to staff and students in a safe and attractive physical environment.

As Facilities Manager you will:

• Lead, manage and develop Facilities Management (FM) staff to ensure efficient, timely and effective provision of a full range of activities in support of the Information Services department (IS)
• Improve working practices, procedures and processes within the FM team to ensure the delivery of services in which the staff and the department can take pride
• Deliver a range of activities to ensure the security of staff, students, service users, buildings and spaces managed by Information Services in order to provide confidence in a secure environment in which to work and study
• Manage the health and safety of buildings for which IS are responsible including issue identification, daily and termly building inspections, to reduce the level of risk or mitigate the effects of an accident, ensuring that appropriate regulations are adhered to

To succeed in this role you will:

• Be Educated to GCSE English and Maths at grade C or equivalent and hold a current health and safety qualification and/or considerable experience in health and safety management
• Have a proven track record in effective building management and security and the ability to suggest and deliver improvements including developing, interpreting and adapting working procedures
• Have significant experience of monitoring building health and safety, conducting Risk Assessments and overseeing building evacuation and an awareness of health and safety legislation including COSHH
• Have considerable experience of contractor management including preparing agendas and taking notes, with the ability to build excellent relationships and ensure the delivery of high quality services

Information Services is comprised of four sections: Customer Support, Library Collections and IT Development together directly support almost all areas of University activity, and the Planning and Administration section supports the work of the department. The IT Support Services subsection of Customer Services is responsible for the support and operation of all live central IT systems on the University’s Canterbury, Medway and Tonbridge campuses.
