Marpaul Southern Limited, are excited to be recruiting for a Gardener to join the team at The Gardens at Yalding.
The role will be 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday) 7:30am – 4:30pm. Applicants should note there may be occasional weekend work on rota during the summer and that this will be prearranged as time off in lieu. Salary is negotiable dependant on experience.
The Gardens officially opened in 2016 as an exclusive venue, it has proven to be a popular venue in Kent and has hosted many private events over the last 3 years.
The grounds are 12 acres and feature 14 individual gardens, each one with its own story to tell.
Successful applicants would have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position, have passion and good knowledge of horticulture.
Main will duties include:
• maintaining high levels of presentation at all times
• digging, planting and weeding flower beds and borders
• pruning shrubbery
• checking the health of plants, identifying any pests or diseases and controlling them
• applying nutrients to plants and turf to keep in top condition
• using machinery such as lawn mowers, rotovators and hedge trimmers
• cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment
• basic building tasks, such as putting up sheds and fences
Experience of turf management, a BTEC First Certificate / NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture, PA1 & PA6 spraying and CS30 & 31 chainsaw certificates or equivalent would be desirable but not essential.
The individual will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, be able to work both independently and collaboratively, have a confident, pleasant demeanour with a flexible approach to the demands of the role.
Due to the rural location and restricted public transport links, a full UK driving licence is essential for travel to and from The Gardens.
