Who are we?

Moat is a leading housing association, owning and managing over 20,000 homes in the South East. We are one of the top 30 housing associations in the UK with 20,000 homes spread across south east London, Kent, Essex and Sussex. For the last 50 years we have sought to help those in housing need. We believe that everyone should have somewhere that they can call home and be proud of.

We are incredibly proud to be:

An experienced and compassionate landlord in our communities
Dedicated to building strong relationships with the local authorities in the areas we work in
One of the Homes England delivery partners, developing around 600 new homes every year
Financially strong, allowing us to deliver excellent services to our customers and build new homes
An expert in providing shared ownership
An employer of 350+ members of expert and passionate staff.
What does a Payroll and Assistant Accountant do?

You will execute monthly payroll transactions using HR and Payroll systems to review changes to employee payroll records, complying with statutory and company procedure. This will be performed in conjunction with our HR team and our outsourced payroll provider.

You will act as the focal point for all internal and external payroll related queries and communication, including any employee queries regarding payroll processing. Alongside this, you will maintain a cloud-based online expenses system ensuring any staff changes are reflected, reviewing monthly exports and liaising with our payroll bureau to meet payroll cut-off schedules.

In addition to your payroll duties, you will complete Assistant Accountant tasks in relation to preparing monthly performance reporting at group, company and budget holder levels. You will perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations of allocation accounts, proactively working with budget holders and forecasting costs against actual results.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who has detailed knowledge of payroll administration, including interfaces with HR and Payroll systems. In addition, you will be familiar with financial ledger systems supported by significant practical experience.

Your previous experiences should have knowledge of legislation and regulation relating to payroll and payroll deductions including benefits administration (particularly pensions). Ideally, you will have a formal qualification in payroll administration (CIPP), but this isn’t essential.

For the Assistant Account element of this role, it is essential to have a good working knowledge of financial databases (SUN Accounts & Q&A reporting would be useful) with an understanding of the requirements for management and financial accounts.

You will be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, with intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.

Your benefits:

In return for your hard work, we will reward you with a competitive salary, pension scheme and the option of flexible working to give you a great work life balance. We offer a generous annual leave entitlement with the flexibility to buy and sell more.

We take pride in our people to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge they require to carry out their role and inspire them to learn more which is why we offer further education sponsorship and leadership programmes. Moat want to ensure their employees feel supported at work, so we also provide Childcare Vouchers, enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption leave, cycle-to-work scheme, and many more!

Interested? We want to hear from you!

Please submit your application, highlighting the skills and experience you can bring to Moat, before the closing date!

Closing Date: Thursday 28 June 2018

We will be reviewing applications on a daily basis and reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the closing date. Please ensure you submit your application at your earliest convenience to be considered for this role.
