Canterbury Cathedral is the Mother Church of the Anglican Communion, a part of a World Heritage Site and one of the most visited and historic buildings in the UK with more than 1 million visitors each year. It is a living church and community with 360 paid staff and some 600 volunteers who assist with a range of activities including: worship, music, visits and tours, hotel and conferencing facilities, fundraising, and an extensive programme of conservation and maintenance.

The opportunity has arisen for the appointment of Head of Human Resources.

We are looking for a competent CIPD qualified Manager with at least 5 years’ proven broad, generalist experience at HR management level, to ensure the compliance of all aspects of employment law and the smooth running of the payroll and reward process to the Dean and Chapter, their staff and subsidiaries.

Successful candidates will have considerable experience of designing and implementing HR processes and procedures, to include policies, recruitment, people management and training, as well as providing advice in relation to a wide range of HR issues. You will be financially competent, experienced in budget management and hold up to date knowledge of UK Payroll and HMRC Tax and NI legislation.

Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You will be experienced in managing a small team, confident in taking responsibility and making decisions, act with integrity and compassion and share the core values of the organisation.
