An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chief Engineer to join the Port Vessel unit on its Tugs and Dredger. The purpose of this role will be to provide technical advice and support to the Master at all times. You would also be responsible for the safety and efficiency of all mechanical machinery, electrical equipment and hydraulic systems on the vessel.
You will be required to:
- Provide the marine engineering skills and competencies, necessary to support a 24 hours towage service (including additional call out support when required)
- Be able to monitor, maintain and repair (if possible) all of the vessel’s electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems, assemblies and equipment
- Oversee and plan all bunkering, oil and bilge waste operations
- Undertake all relevant planned maintenance and be fully versed in the use and application of the port’s planned maintenance system
- Provide engineering support to other vessels operated by the Port of Dover
- Retain, be aware and keep up to date with all relevant engineering information, legislation and requirements of statutory bodies, taken action as necessary
- Support the Technical Superintendent as requested, with any technical or engineering works related to the Port vessels
- Assist with mooring and deck operations as required
- You must either live within 1 hrs travelling distance from the Port of Dover or be prepared to live locally in provided accommodation
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of STCW III/2 Chief Engineer Motor < 6,000KW near-coastal
- Good working knowledge of the ISM code, Health and Safety and MARPOL
- Minimum of 3 years service as 2nd Engineer
- Previous experience of working with small vessels
