You may have a formal accountancy, or tax qualification (ATT or CTA), or be qualified by experience, but you must have a sound understanding of personal taxation for this position. You will be preparing self-assessment returns, calculating other tax liabilities and communicating with clients and the staff at HMRC to clarify information and respond to queries. This is a busy office, and there will be plenty of face-to-face and phone interaction with clients.

As a personal tax assistant, it is likely that your experience will come from working within an accountancy practice, or taxation specialist. Working knowledge of CCH Central software would be ideal; alternatively, knowledge of other tax return processing software would be valuable. Training and ongoing CPD will be provided so that you may remain expert in your field.

Ideally full-time, there is scope for some flexibility over hours. Starting salary will be dependent on your level of experience and qualifications.
