We are currently recruiting for an employer of choice located on prestigious Kings Hill, specialising in insurance for a number of Regional Underwriters, due to planned growth.

Salary is largely depending on experience but as a guide, c£20K - £35K.

In terms of qualifications, we are seeking a minimum Cert CII. Dip CII or progress towards is preferred but we are ultimately searching for an individual with good knowledge of commercial lines products, including Commercial Combined and Property Owners Insurances with Motor Trade/Combined/Fleet considered desirable, but non essential.

You will be involved in contributing to the profitable development of the branch and wider Southern Region, by case underwriting existing business risks and actively managing renewals and MTAs including:
Developing and supporting the commercial lines account by engaging and encouraging new and existing relationships with regional brokers.
Contribute toward the achievement of the company annual financial plan.

You must be able to assess technical risk, apply that knowledge and make decisions within authority levels
Have a strong and decisive approach to underwriting with proven effective trading skills

Excellent communication skills and the ability to negotiate and influence results

Areas of responsibility include:
Profitably underwrite, on a case by case basis, bespoke commercial lines risks within the company criteria
Underwrite within their company strategy and authority limits and refer all cases outside of strategy or individual limits
Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues and regional brokers and undertake external visits, training review meetings and social events when required
Maintain and endeavour to exceed, agreed service levels to both internal and external customers
To prospect and actively contribute to the growth targets of the team optimising sales and retention
Maintain an accurate audit trail using company systems, practices and procedures
Provide technical assistance and guidance to junior team members on underwriting matters whilst mentoring on both technical and soft skills

Work with the Branch Manager to continually develop ideas in order to increase team productivity, efficiency and profitability.
To prospect and actively contribute to the growth of the team optimising sales and retention

Maintain an up to date knowledge of:
Commercial lines market
Regional broking marketplace
Legislation and litigation which could affect the writing of the business
Provide technical assistance and guidance to junior team members on underwriting matters whilst mentoring on both technical matters and soft skills
Participate in and undertake any ad hoc tasks that may be requested to ensure the smooth running of the branch and Southern region
You will work to the principles of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) and understand how you play a part in the Customer Experience and the provision of a service to all customers (internal and external) that it is a memorable for the right reasons and therefore build on the company reputation as a great company to work for and do business with.
