We are currently recruiting for an employer of choice located on prestigious Kings Hill, specialising in insurance.
Due to continued, planned growth, we are searching for a number of Senior Regional Underwriters – salary is largely depending on experience but circa £35K - £45K as a guide.
In terms of qualifications, we are seeking a minimum Cert CII. Dip CII or progress towards is preferred.
We are looking for individuals who will be able to immediately contribute the main ethos of the company which is “To help people protect against the worst happening and put it right if it does”!
You will be involved in developing and supporting the commercial lines account by engaging and encouraging new and existing relationships with regional brokers.
Ensure the company’s technical underwriting rates and criteria are accurately applied to all risks and contribute toward the achievement of their annual financial plan.
Experience & Knowledge:
We are searching for someone with experience underwriting and trading commercial products – with proven experience in underwriting Commercial Combined insurance, required
Proven relationship management
The ability to demonstrate meeting and exceeding personal and team objectives
Experience in delivering training and/or coaching
Awareness of market and legal/regulatory developments
You must be able to assess technical risk, apply that knowledge and make decisions within authority levels.
Have a strong and decisive approach to underwriting with proven effective trading skills plus strong Technical and Coaching skills with the ability to work independently but also as part of a team to deliver goals.
Areas of responsibility include:
Profitably underwrite, on a case by case basis, bespoke commercial lines risks within the company criteria
Be a key referral point for technical queries within the team
Be an advocate of effective trading developing and overseeing initiatives within the team
Work with the Branch Manager to continually develop ideas in order to increase team productivity, efficiency and profitability.
Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues and regional brokers and undertake external visits, training review meetings and social events when required
To prospect and actively contribute to the growth of the team optimising sales and retention
Maintain an accurate audit trail using company systems, practices and procedures
You will also contribute significantly to the overall “customer experience” ensuring you “do the right thing” to ensure everything you do fits in with legal requirements company policies and regulatory requirements.
Maintain an up to date knowledge of:
Commercial lines market
Regional broking marketplace
Legislation and litigation which could affect the writing of the business
Provide technical assistance and guidance to junior team members on underwriting matters whilst mentoring on both technical matters and soft skills
Participate in and undertake any ad hoc tasks that may be requested to ensure the smooth running of the branch.
Nice to have:
Experience in Motor Trade and/or Motor Fleet desirable.
Hours of Work:
Flexible working options available: 36.25 hours per week, condensed hours, flexitime, working from home occasionally.
