Production Technician

Overview:
Under appropriate supervision, perform a variety of duties including but not limited to the assembly of a wide variety of plastic containers. Perform set up and operation duties to prepare and construct foam sub-components and inserts to fit a variety of container configurations and sizes. Conduct thorough first piece inspections and demonstrate effective cost savings measures. Demonstrate good knowledge and ability in the safe operation of factory equipment e.g. band saw, pillar drill etc. Demonstrate good problem solving, self-motivation and team working skills.

What You’ll Do:
• Set necessary parameters in line with route cards and material specifications, Bill of Material (BOM) and/or assembly drawings.
• Work closely with production Supervisor to follow manufacturing schedules
• Conduct thorough first piece inspections by self-checking own work for completeness, accuracy, meeting standards, fits and stack-ups.
• Operate various factory equipment e.g. band saw, pillar drill.
• Responsibility for basic machinery maintenance as required or directed
• Work through processes as detailed on Route cards, prints or specifications including the picking of parts and supplies, band saw cutting; edge preparation; fitting of hardware and any relevant container facilities; rack frame assembly and installation; foam cutting; assembly and installation; container labelling and stencilling up to final inspection.
• Perform In Process inspection; detect any non-conformances and notify the relevant Manger or QA representative.
• Perform repair operations as requested.
• Perform stock counts. Assist in the movement of stock, including use of fork-lifting equipment if trained to do so.
• Follow prescribed safety precautions, established company policies, procedures, rules, & regulations. Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and questionable conditions to appropriate supervisor or manager.
• Maintain work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
• Maintain daily production and other records as required.
• Perform other similar duties as required or requested by supervisor or managers.

What You’ll Need:

1. Ability to read and interpret basic engineering and assembly drawings.
2. Previous workshop machine operating experience preferred e.g. band saw, pillar drill, etc.
3. Must have accurate measuring and cutting skills.
4. Must possess manual dexterity and coordination
5. Must possess very good written, maths and verbal communication skills.
6. Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified by the Team Leader.
7. Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
8. Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
9. Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
