We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Academic Liaison Team within Information Services. You will share responsibility for liaison with academic schools, in particular, taking responsibility for development of collections and services that support their use with proven experience of academic liaison and collection management,

You will be a strong library and information management advocate, encouraging staff and students to engage with and use the full range of library services, including assistance with research and making effective use of a diverse set of information sources, tools and technologies.

As Liaison Librarian you will:

• Work with the School Library Representative, Head of School and other key stakeholders to plan for resource requirements to meet teaching, learning and research needs.

• Participate in the IS roadmap planning process and initiate, sponsor or manage IS projects to deliver strategic change for the designated strategic lead area.

• Lead on designated areas of operational activity under the guidance of the Faculty Librarian, to deliver, evaluate and improve services.

• Design, develop and deliver a range of training sessions that meet the needs of the designated school programmes. Maintain and develop knowledge of best practice and technologies in this area.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Education to graduate level or equivalent

• Demonstrable experience in the management and coordination of services and an ability to work in different contexts/professional settings.

• Experience of dealing with a complex range of user needs and delivering services to meet those needs.

• Understanding of academic needs for library collection development

Information Services is comprised of four sections: Customer Support, Library Collections and IT Development together directly support almost all areas of University activity, and the Planning and Administration section supports the work of the department. The IT Support Services subsection of Customer Services is responsible for the support and operation of all live central IT systems on the University’s Canterbury, Medway and Tonbridge campuses.
