This vacancy offers an exciting opportunity for a committed individual to join University of Kent, providing accurate and efficient clerical support in order to ensure the smooth running of the department/school.

You will write copy and prepare content for School’s website and publications, be involved in recruitment activities, contribute to social media and assist in coordinating activities related to promote the profile of the School and increase engagement with students, alumni, corporate events and congregations.

This vacancy also offers an exciting opportunity to take part in an apprenticeship programme. The School flexible and keen to offer this additional training route if it suits you!?

As an Administration and Recruitment Assistant you will:

• Assist with preparing content (including digital and print) to promote the profile of the Department and increase recruitment.
• Provide general clerical support to the school/department as requested, to assist in the effective day to day administration of the school/department.
• Assist with organising and running a range of recruitment and marketing based events to ensure the success of the School.
• Undertake marketing activities for current students, including societies, to ensure student satisfaction and positive student experience.

To succeed in this role you will have:

• GCSE grades C and above in English and Maths or the equivalent with a CLAIT/ECDL or equivalent IT qualification
• Previous experience in a clerical role in a busy, demanding customer facing service
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office packages and excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience of using and developing social media and websites.

The School of Physical Sciences (SPS) is situated in the newly refurbished science laboratories on the Canterbury Campus - a green garden campus that overlooks the historic city – and just an hour by high-speed train to London. It is part of the Faculty of Sciences within the University of Kent, and offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Physics, Chemistry, and Forensic Sciences.

Apprenticeships provide the right balance between earning and learning. You’ll be able to develop your career with a structured learning programme that combines learning with on-the-job training. You’ll also earn an industry-recognised qualification while you work. It’s all about taking on real responsibilities while gaining the skills and experience you need to succeed – all with the support of knowledgeable colleagues from within thjavascript:submitVacancy();e business. You will work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge which will assist you to complete an Apprenticeship standard.
