The Group Customer Database team work as part of Saga Group IT. Our core responsibility is with managing the Single Customer View (SCV), which is central to a number of key areas across the business including CRM, Campaign Management and My Saga.

We work with stakeholders from across the business units to include, by not limited to, Insurance, Travel, Financial Services and Publishing as well as related third parties and internal departments. The GMD receive all customer transactions, transposing these into a SCV by ensuring data quality, customer survivorship and customer cleansing. This data is then republished for use by the business.

This role requires the jobholder to have a basic IT foundation supported by the ability to demonstrate that they can independently manage their allocated workload. The jobholder will work on the new Adobe application as well as monitoring the interfaces. This role requires a proactive person who is adaptable and able to effectively communicate their ideas and recommendations to other team members and/or project stakeholders.

The death of a loved one can be a difficult time. Jobs within the funeral industry call for people with sensitivity to the nature of bereavement and an eye for detail.

Vinters Park Crematorium is planning for its future. In order to continue to deliver a first class service to families that are going through a very difficult time, we need to recruit the right people to enhance our service.

The postholder will work with a team to ensure the provision of a quality Cremation and Burial service for Maidstone Borough Council by undertaking a range of duties.

The Chapel Attendant/Cremation Technician (Trainee) will be trained in all aspects of cremation. They will learn to undertake Chapel Duties for services held at the Crematorium, trained to undertake cremations and also work with the office staff to assist with the maintenance of the grounds. The role will also include undertaking scattering and burial of ashes and undertaking small services when families are present.

The ideal candidates will have an empathetic attitude and be able to converse and deal with members of the public, Clergy, Funeral Directors, organists and associated staff in a sensitive manner. They will also be able to work well as part of a team. The ability to be methodical and follow rigorous set procedures relating to the cremation and burial procedures is essential. Pride in your work and a high standard of accuracy and flexibility is required.

The Council considers this to be a customer focused roles and the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is fundamental to the role.

The Chapel Attendant/Cremation Technician (Trainee) role is 30 hours a week, which equates to six hours per day, Monday to Friday.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a uniquely rewarding and busy environment and to be part of the development of one of Maidstone Borough Council’s key frontline services.

Overview of the Role & Team:
This target driven role works within the Volunteering function of the HR team, which provides the services of volunteers across the organisation. This role will be supported and line managed by RBLI’s Volunteer Manager as part of the HR team. The HR Team consists of the Head of HR, a Senior HR Officer, a Senior HR Administrator and a Learning & Development Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Delivery
• Attract and recruit volunteers using appropriate and effective methods
• Liaise with departments to establish their volunteer needs
• Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities
• Appropriately match volunteers to RBLI activities
• Create and implement appropriate volunteer engagement techniques
• Ensure volunteer has received appropriate training and security checks where relevant before placing, including right to volunteer in the UK
• Meet volunteer activity targets

People Management
• Offer advice and guidance to all serving and potential volunteers
• Support vulnerable volunteers to sustain fulfilling volunteering
• Support managers to motivate and retain their volunteers, including delivering training briefs and workshops

Administration
• Action all volunteer related administration, effectively and efficiently including:
• Recruitment administration
• Volunteer reviews
• Volunteer monitoring data
Communications & Reporting
• Provide an active communication link between departments and volunteers
• Provide line manager and key internal stakeholders with relevant management information in relation to volunteer activity KPIs
• Capture all volunteer hours undertaken

Marketing & Promotion
• Update on-line RBLI volunteering portal and job board and use social media to promote RBLI’s Volunteering Programme
• Be the internal volunteer champion and promote volunteers internally and externally through recruitment drives, marketing and profile raising
• Celebrate volunteering by implementing appropriate recognition techniques
• Attend internal and external meetings and events that could promote/attract volunteers
• Network with other charities, local businesses and organisations

General Responsibilities
• Comply with all Health & Safety requirements
• Keep up to date with the volunteer sector industry and best practice approaches to volunteer involvement
• Maintain all volunteer personnel data private and confidential, in line with company Data Protection policies
• Undertake any reasonable duty requested by Line Manager provided that appropriate training and guidance has been given to ensure appropriate capability

Skills and Experience Required:
Essential:
• 1-2 years’ experience of successfully recruiting, managing and working with volunteers
• Experience of working within a charity or social enterprise
• Understands and has experience of working within volunteering best practice and legal frameworks
• Experience of working within a target driven environment
• Strong organisational, PC, social media and administration skills
• Experience of implementing marketing and promotional activity
• Strong networking skills
• Flexible and willing to travel
• Self-motivated and the ability to work independently from own initiative

Desirable:
• Experience of delivering training and presenting to large audiences
• Experience of working with vulnerable adults
• Experience of the benefits system and how potential volunteers may be affected
• Degree or equivalent qualification
• Full and clean driving license
