About the role: We are seeking to appoint an excellent candidate for the position of Caretaker who will form part of a broader Site Team within Molehill Primary Academy. This post is full time and permanent and will be taken over two shifts per day; one early morning and one later in the day. This position will require you to be responsible for the care of the school premises, a range of general maintenance duties within the buildings and the grounds whilst ensuring high standards of cleaning and maintaining the security of school premises are upheld. You will oversee a small team of cleaners, ensuring the school is kept to a hygienically high standard of cleanliness.

Applicants will need a flexible approach to working hours and duties very occasionally. You should be trustworthy, reliable, hard-working, conscientious and be able to work independently or as part of a team. You will have a general knowledge of Health & Safety, basic IT skills, a good understanding of Safeguarding, be able to undertake basic maintenance tasks, and be responsible for the security of the building whilst on duty. About the role: Molehill Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a Cleaner to ensure the designated areas of the academy premises are kept in a clean and hygienic condition. The working basis of the position is Term Time + 4 weeks during academy holidays for deep cleans and we can offer between 15-20 hours per week which can be discussed during the interview. Reporting to the Caretaker, the post-holder will undertake the following duties;

- Cleaning, washing, catch mopping and sweeping.
- Emptying of litter bins
- Polishing and dusting where appropriate.
- Using powered equipment (e.g. Vacuum cleaners, polishers) where appropriate
- Undertake major cleaning during academy holidays as agreed with the Facilities Manager.


Please note;

- The designated areas may include toilets, washrooms and corridors.
- Duties will vary between term and closure periods.
- All duties must be carried out within the codes of practice of the Academy’s Health and Safety Policy.

- No formal qualifications required

Your new role:

You will lead and manage a team of 11 cleaners, 2 caretakers and ideally have previous experience of doing so. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring any associated budgets and maintenance programmes for the Academy.

The responsibilities of the position oversee the following areas:
• Premises Management

• Capital Development
• Oversite of the cleaning and site teams
• Health & Safety management
The successful candidate will have the following previous experience:
• Previously worked as a caretaker, school site manager, school facilities manager or similar
• Practical skills in maintenance and cleaning
• Experience of managing Health & Safety
• At least 1 year’s working knowledge within an Academy/School is desirable, along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft office.
