Job Title Project Engineer

Location: Borough Green

Report to: Engineering Manager



Main Responsibilities are:

* To define, design and manage key engineering projects at the Borough Green site to deliver identified benefits.
* Comply fully with the Company Safety Policy and instructions, the Health & Safety at Work Act and all other legal and safety requirements. Ensure that these are known and understood by contractors under your control.
* Produce capital Applications incorporating fully argued justification against quotations rather than 'guestimates' where possible.
* Work with all relevant stakeholders to prepare and deliver 5 year rolling capital plan.
* Ensure all projects under your control are managed to promote a good safety culture, cost control and that hand-over is accompanied by the required documentation.
* Select engineering partners based on their ability to provide properly considered and tested systems that fully comply with our requirements.
* Formulate and apply terms of contract that provide a fair balance between the needs of the supplier and our client, paying particular attention to performance guarantees and payment schedules.
* Evaluate and minimise the environmental impact of projects under your control.
* Establish, publish and continuously update Equipment Requirement Specification in conjunction with the works engineers. These standards will be compiled to ensure as far as practicable that all machine systems are designed to incorporate experience in aircrete production, utilising simple, durable, easily maintainable, tried and tested commonly held components and engineering principles. Ensure these are effectively communicated to our contractors.
* Maintain and update the Company project engineering records in a manner easily accessible to the factory engineering teams.
* Communicate effectively, without the use of technical jargon, with all departments ensuring a good working relationship for the benefit of the Company.
* Assist in the promotion of modern 'workplace management techniques (e.g 5s, lean etc)' and problem solving techniques such as a 'DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control), root cause analysis etc.
* Maintain and implement the Energy Policy for the Borough Green site.
* Produce a monthly update report.

Perform any other duties within your ability as reasonably requested by the Company



Qualifications:

Time served qualification in mechanical or electrical with multi skill capability.

Appropriate engineering qualification, minimum HNC.

Minimum IOSH, ideally NEBOSH (to certificate level)

Project management

BS7671:2001 (17th edition electrical regulations) familiar.



Experience:

Minimum 5 years (since qualification) in an appropriate engineering role, in similar industrial environments.

Experienced in management of large scale projects (> £1 million)

Process / plant design and specification.

Familiar with industrial scale steam raising plant and systems.

Lean implementation, lean tools and problem solving techniques.

Knowledge of software such as Project, Excel, Eplan, AutoCAD and Solidworks.



Skills:

Strong motivation and able to work unsupervised but also a key member of the factory team.

Clear and effective communications.

Creative problem solving and fault finding.

Ability to prioritise activities and tasks under pressure.

Must be willing to travel as required.
