Our client is a highly entrepreneurial SME business services group who are looking for a qualified accountant to join them as a hands on Finance Director.  The role will report to the managing director and will combine both hands on accounting with commercial financial modelling.  The Finance Director will be responsible for financial strategy, reporting, financial controls and risk management.

About the role

- Responsible for overseeing production and analysis of year-end financial accounts; liaising with the company`s auditors.
- Overseeing preparation of P&L, Balance sheet and cash flows on a monthly basis for Board and investor purposes.

- Prepare for and to manage the integration of acquisitions into the existing business systems.
- Manage and control cash collection through weekly review meetings.
- Train and mentor the finance team.
- Oversee cashbook functions including ensuring bank, supplier and debtor reconciliations are carried out.
- Lead the budget process.
- Manage the consolidation of all group company accounts and reporting requirements.
- Lead the year-end audit process including preparing the statutory accounts for audit.
- Establish key relationships with auditors, bankers, insurers as well as key suppliers.
- To identify and improve systems and processes throughout the business.
- To improve the quality of data within the business systems.

About you

- ACA qualified, with 3 years plus PQE
- Good analytical, interpersonal leadership and communication skills.
- Strong Excel modelling skills.
- Proven learning ability with a keen desire to support the learning of others.
- Ability to demonstrate decisiveness and sound judgement on a consistent basis.

The FD will be expected to take a hands on role within a small finance team. This role would suit an ambitious financial controller who is looking to make their first move as a finance director.
