Role summary

A rare opportunity for a qualified social worker to join our fostering team. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and will manage and supervise the social work team in the South, ensuring compliance with regulatory framework including the National Minimum Standards.

Working closely with the Registered Manager and Practice Manager – Midlands, you will play a key role in supporting and developing social work practice to achieve organisation growth and the best possible outcomes for children.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Management, supervision and support of the social work team in the South.
• Manage and supervise independent social workers who are undertaking annual reviews, Form F assessments or other independent work.
• Ensure that safeguarding is the key priority in all aspects of our work.
• Ensure that Credo Care is working at all times within the requirements of the Fostering Regulations 2011 and the National Minimum
Standards for Fostering Services 2011 by undertaking some statutory tasks as requested by the Registered Manager.
• Liaise with colleagues about referrals, placements, matching considerations and meetings.
• Ensure all agreements appertaining to placements are completed and adhered to.
• Ensure that each child’s care plan is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the placing authority and in consultation with the
child’s social worker, foster carers, parents, etc.
• Maintain accurate records of placements, i.e. case recording, placement agreements, assessment reports, carer reviews, carer
supervision and child progress reports.
• Attend and participate in childcare reviews, monthly management meetings, service development meetings and other meetings as
appropriate.
• Chair team meetings on a regular basis and share information regarding children in placement and development progress. Attend social
work team meetings, representing the South team.
• Work closely with the Registered Manager and Practice Manager - Midlands.
• Work with colleagues on carer training and recruitment strategies as required.
• Undertaking training when required with a commitment to undertake NVQ4 in management or equivalent, if not yet achieved.
• Take part in the emergency ‘out of hours’ duty manager service.
• Participate in fostering Panels as required.
• Occasionally carry out direct case work when required.

General duties and responsibilities

• Maintain appropriate and accurate records, documents and filing systems.
• Maintain a professional image and standard of presentation.
• Attend and participate in meetings and training as required.
• Work in accordance with Credo Care’s policies, procedures and ethos.
• Work under the guidance of regulatory framework including the National Minimum Standards.
• Undertake any other duties at the request of your line manager, senior managers or directors, dependent upon the post holder’s area of
expertise, knowledge and skills, and with regard to the level of responsibility afforded by the post held.


Salary scale £35,000 to £41,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
Car allowance £400 pcm.
Full time – 37.5 hours per week.

Work base Head Office – Lydd, Kent. Some travel, including to our Midlands office, may be required.
