Red Eagle Recruitment are looking to recruit a permanent Production Shift Manager for our FMCG client.

Production Shift Manager Summary:

To lead an efficient, continuously improving, production shift optimising product quality, GMP, customer service, cost and health & safety. Specific responsibilities include delivering KPI objectives with a well-trained team where there is open communications at all levels.

Key Accountabilities:

Manage shift performance (health and safety, labour, materials, customer service)

Ensure KPI data recording takes place and is complete. Specific examples include materials, labour, GMP, customer service, health and safety, line efficiency, yields, waste, and downtime.
Ensure that all resources (labour, materials and packaging) are in place to deliver the production plan.
Control all downtime to a minimum where issues are acted upon immediately and incidents of more than 10mins are reported to the Production Manager.
Provide information of issues to the daily PDR meetings to ensure that all opportunities for improvement are captured and implemented.
Conduct effective handover to the following Shift Manager by walking the factory and reviewing the issues.
Ensure all near miss and accidents are investigated and action taken to prevent a reoccurrence.


Actively promote the personal development of all staff
Manage the induction and ongoing development of the team.
Develop and implement objectives for the production team, and personnel within the factory.
Appraise the performance and training opportunities of the factory staff.
Ensure training schedules are delivered, to maintain a fully flexible team.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and empowerment, together with a can do attitude.
Contribute to effective two-way weekly team briefings with all staff.
Ensure that all absence is reported and return to work interviews completed on the day of return.
Maintain a high standard of discipline involving appropriate procedures where necessary.


Ensure resources are available to meet the needs of the shift
Regularly review the needs of the shift to implement improvement initiatives. This includes making sure that staff are fully trained, materials are available and equipment operating properly to deliver the production plan.
Report all issues immediately.


Ensure compliance with all company, technical and legislative polices and procedures
Ensure the shift meets all company and legal requirements with regard to health & safety, environment, GMP, food safety and employment law.
Implement the highest standards within the factory to deliver premium quality products to company specification.
Ensure health & safety is complied with at all times by auditing the factory at least once, every shift.
Ensure all HACCP procedures are adhered to at all times, and CCP are controlled with specification.
Ensure all start-up check documentation is completed to ensure a safe efficient manufacturing area.
