We are seeking a Caretaker to provide a full and varied caretaking service mainly based at the University’s Dockyard site, although you may also be required to work at the Pembroke Site of the Medway Campus.

This post will act as a daily link between the Schools/Departments located in the buildings at the Dockyard. There is an additional focus on maintenance repair jobs, statutory compliance checks and logistical works within this post due to the location and requirements of the allocated buildings.

You will be a public figure within the buildings, providing day to day assistance for the smooth running of the areas, communicating daily with all levels of staff, students and visitors, promoting the professional image of both the Commercial Services and Estates department but also representing the Schools/Departments based on site.

In this role you will:

Be responsible for the general site security, in liaison with the FM Supervisor and/or Facilities Operations Manager.
Unlock specific buildings individual rooms as required, activate/ deactivate zoned alarms as required and issue keys to appropriate persons in line with policy.
Undertake regular statutory maintenance inspections as instructed by the FM Supervisory team e.g. plant room inspections, filter changes for air handling systems, water hygiene testing, emergency light testing and re-lamping.
Carry out maintenance tasks around the buildings including basic engineering, drain clearance and building planned maintenance as instructed.
To be successful in this role you will have/be:

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
A full UK Driving Licence
Previous experience of working as a team member
Proven experience of undertaking general maintenance and cleaning duties
Excellent oral and written communication skills
