Are you experienced in database management, with the ability to transform complex data into a visual and understandable format? Are you organised and professional, with a high level of attention to detail? We are looking for a Data Information Officer to manage the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Research Design Service South East (RDS SE) activity database.

The activity database records the work of RDS SE research advisers in helping health and social care researchers in Kent, Surrey and Sussex to apply for research funding. The Data Information Officer will have responsibility for overseeing the records on the database and helping to ensure that useful and accurate information is available for reporting purposes. Accurate metrics are very important for providing the evidence required by our funders to show that the service is running efficiently and the successful candidate will be responsible for creating metrics reports for review at management meetings and for annual reporting.

This is a part time position (17.5 hours per week, 0.5FTE) available on a fixed term basis until 30 September 2023.

As Data Information Officer you will:

Oversee and monitor the RDS SE activity database to ensure data is accurate and reflects activities within the service
Produce regular metrics reports for management meetings and present these in a comprehensible format
Organise, minute and contribute to the quarterly data monitoring group meeting
Liaise with other RDSs to ensure that data being recorded is consistent with other regions, suggesting improvements and liaising with the developer to help implement any changes
Oversee project allocations within the Kent team; providing reports (as required) on local and regional allocations, to support site lead management

To be successful in this role you will have/be:

GCSE Maths & English (grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
Relevant experience in a similar role
Relevant experience in database management and reporting, and the ability to use a database and to extract data to produce reports, including pivot tables
Experience of presenting complex data in a simple format
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with a range of people at all levels
