Strood Community Shop

Assume full responsibility for all aspects of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, meeting agreed sales targets and maximising profit to increase the overall contribution of the shop. To be an ambassador for Strood Community Shop, supporting and endorsing the aims of the organisation.
This role is instrumental in making our shop the hub of the local community and raising public awareness.

Sales and profit:
Assist in generating quality donated goods, to achieve the agreed processing targets, in order to maintain shop density levels, whilst complying with pricing guidelines
Minimise stock loss
Taking the lead with processing high volumes of donations in the shop in managers absence
Follow agreed procedure on stock management throughout the sales floor and stock rooms, whilst maintaining compliance with Health &

Safety regulations
Assist in identifying high value items to send to eBay, to maximise shop profit and meet eBay targets for the shop
Assist in achieving agreed sales targets
Ensure excellent standards are maintained in terms of customer service

Implement all directives from the CEO and Director
Shop Standards:
In the absence of the shop manager, maintain a high standard of visual merchandising and display (to include new goods and donated) both windows and in-store complying with Health and Safety standards
Good knowledge of fashion would be beneficial
Ensure basic standards and high levels of cleanliness are consistently maintained

Health and Safety, Security and Environmental:
Support the shop manager in ensuring that safeguarding processes are carried out to protect volunteers and shop staff
Ensure manual handling guidelines are followed
Ensure correct PPE is issued and used within the shop
Comply with Strood Community Shop Health and Safety policies and instructions

People Management:
Ensure that instructions and information from CEO and Director are communicated to staff and volunteers using the appropriate communication tools.
Maintain regular communication with the Shop Manager
Build and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with staff, volunteers and external supporters
Be able to give feedback to Donors regarding unsaleable/prohibited items
Attend meetings and training sessions as required
Be willing to work additional hours and to perform any additional duties as and when required by the business

Contract length: 3 months with opportunities to extend for the right candidate
