East Kent Housing delivers housing services across four districts, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and Hythe and Thanet and is committed to putting residents at the heart of our organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Independent Living Team and work with tenants and partners to work with residents to deliver and improve the housing services.

East Kent Housing (EKH) Independent Living Team delivers intensive housing management to older and vulnerable tenants in order that they can sustain their tenancies. We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an Independent Living Manager to work in sheltered schemes in the Folkestone and Hythe District Council area.

Main duties:
• Assess the eligibility of housing applicants who wish to live in sheltered accommodation
• Provide advice to tenants to promote independence and sustain their tenancies
• Deliver intensive housing management services that includes dealing with vacant properties and tenancy issues, anti-social behaviour and breaches of tenancy
• Ensure the health, safety and well-being of tenants and the schemes, including taking appropriate action on any potential safeguarding concerns
• Work closely with other agencies and internal customers
• Keep tenant records up to date and be aware of Data Protection
• Provide an out-of-hours service in the evenings and at weekends on a rota basis
• All Bank Holidays, including Christmas Day and Boxing Day are normal working days.

Essential requirements:
• Good understanding of housing management and customer services
• Knowledge of housing and tenancy legislation
• Competent in the use of IT systems
• Knowledge of welfare benefits
• The ability to build effective relationships and partnerships with officers and members in the Council, external agencies, residents and contractors
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and be flexible
• Educated to basic literacy and numeracy standard.
• Willing to study for CIH qualification or NCQ qualification

Due to the nature of this role, this post requires an enhanced DBS check

This post requires you to have a full driving licence and own transport or requires travelling to sites in a timely manner equivalent to motor travel in your own car. Although the

Although the candidate will be based in the Folkestone and Hythe district, there is the potential for the candidate having to work in the districts of Canterbury or Dover if need be.
